THE MYTH OF THE FIRE LEAP

The Leap of Fire

In Thassos, August is a month of cleansing that prepares the island for the next season. The custom of jumping fire is closely linked to this tradition. It is said that if one goes over the fire three times, it helps them maintain good health. The visitor who will be in a Thassian village on the night of July 31 will have the opportunity to enjoy the event – and why not, to participate!
